[Taipei] Mita Seimen (三田製麵所 阪急台北店)

Mita Seimen  (三田製麵所) is a well known tsukemen restaurants from Japan.  They recently opened a new branch in Hong Kong (February 2015).  With the even more recent addition of Tsukemen Tetsu, the line should not be horrible these days.  Luckily, I tried it when I was in Taipei and there was no queue!

The signature item here is their tsukemen.  The broth is made of tonkatsu and fish powder and is very thick.  It reminds me of a thicker version of the mohinga - the Burmese national dish - both of which is fish broth based.  As it was my first time visit, I like to order the "normal" version.  The menu even has a illustrated guide as to how you should enjoy this noodle!

The wait is pretty short.  Perfect for a quick lunch / dinner.  Solo diner welcomed :)  To me, I like it more than ramen (probably because I like udon type noodles better).  However, the broth is really salty so I did find myself drinking a lot of water.

I got an gyoza on the side, just because... (I am a dumpling monster or rather, a vinegar lover...)

Would I say this noodle is so extra-ordinary that it is a must try?  Probably not.  I could never understand the ramen craze... but I still queue 90 minutes occasionally for a bowl of ramen... XD  So who am I to judge?
